This a a large wood sculpture done in a modified intarsia style. The carving is referenced to a wonderful drawing by permission of 
There are over 200 individual pieces with many species of wood including walnut, pine, cedar, aspen, ash, ebony, osage, and cypress.
I have sanded off my fingertips on this one.
