possum

This carving was inspired by a photo on cuteoverload.com. This is a honey possum from Australia, and he is really small enough to hang from a flower stem. The woods used are aromatic cedar, blood wood, pine, ebony, holly, osage, and a few others that I don't have the name for. The reds are from several species to allow for shadows. On most pieces I use a clear danish oil, but for this one I opted for a high gloss clear urethane. A very satisfying piece.
